Tyler Hadley Murdered His Parents & Threw A Party An Exotic Truth

Tyler Hadley, aged 17, killed his parents, Blake and Mary Jo Hadley, with a hammer at their home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, on July 16, 2011. 

After cleaning up the blood, he had a home party that night while his parents’ bodies remained in their bedroom.

Hadley had posted an invitation to a party at his residence on Facebook the day of the murders.

He pretended that his parents were in Orlando, Florida.

Last Saturday night, the day after his parents’ deaths, Tyler Hadley hosted a party for 60 people at his home in this town. 

He murdered his parents just hours before. He started the celebration with the money left over from his parents’ deaths and then sought the help of several friends.

The gathering drew about 60 people, and it was a blow-out party. Tyler decided he wanted everyone to know about his cruel act during this party.

As a result, he began to tell others about what he did with his parents. Most people didn’t want to hear that, and after speaking with him, they swiftly departed the gathering. 

Except for Michael Mandell, his best friend. Tyler and Michael went for a walk, and Tyler confessed his crime.

Tyler showed him a bloody shoe print in the garage, and the friend refused to believe him. When the friend entered the residence, the friend noticed blood near the master bedroom door. 

He observed a partially covered body peeking out from a jumble of objects on the floor when he opened it.

The Murder Case Of Tyler Hadley’s Parents

Tyler has fantasized about murdering his parents since he was ten years old. His parents were kind, friendly, and too indulgent with their kids. 

He had decided how he planned to go about it a few weeks before the murders.

Tyler secretly concealed his parents’ phones, put their black lab in a closet, and decided on a murder weapon after returning from their excursion to the Farmer’s Market. 

Later, he posted about the party on his Facebook account. 

Tyler took three Ecstasy pills shortly before 5:00 p.m. on the evening of July 16th, 2011, and then stood behind his mother, Mary-Jo, as she worked on her computer in the family room.

He began by striking his mother with the claw end of a claw hammer. After hearing the shouts and turmoil, his father raced out of the bedroom to investigate what was going on. 

Blake paused in his tracks as he saw Tyler assaulting his mother over Mary-Jo’s. Tyler took advantage of this and started attacking his father as well. 

After killing them, he dragged their bodies into the Master bedroom and spent the next few hours cleaning up the blood and putting away everything that reminded him of them.

In the early hours of July 17th, 2011, police were dispatched to the Hadley residence. Tyler appeared to hallucinate; it was clear he was on some sort of drug, which piqued the officers’ interest. 

They noted how filthy the house was when they entered it, but they knew there had been a party the night before. 

They began to notice dark stains on the floor and walls, and when they spotted what appeared to be dried blood on the master bedroom door and heard Tyler tell them not to enter, they forced an entrance and were met with a horror crime scenario. 

A double bed sat in the room’s center. But furniture throughout the home was heaped on top of the bed, including dining chairs, coffee tables, bedding, and mirrors. 

A considerable amount of blood was on the floor ands blood-soaked towels and bed sheets.

Officers examined the scene more closely and noticed a pale white leg sticking out beneath the pile, and it was the leg of Tyler’s father, Blake Hadley.

They discovered Mary-Jo Hadley’s body after digging deeper and removing some of the furniture.

Why Did Tyler Murder His Parents? How Did He Felt About It?

Tyler was diagnosed with anxiety and depression as a child. He also showed symptoms of bulimia. 

Tyler began skipping school and abusing drugs when he was a teenager. Prior to these murders, he was allegedly involved in many other crimes, including vandalism, theft, etc. 

He had been enrolled in an outpatient drug treatment program before the murders, but it was not working since he was unwilling to quit using narcotics.

His parents had recently located an in-patient treatment facility for him, knowing he would soon turn 18 and desperate to get help. 

This is why he murdered them; according to the Resentencing Documents, he did not want to participate in the program.

On the other hand, Tyler lied to mental health specialists and exaggerated his problems after his incarceration to secure a lesser sentence. This isn’t going to work.

Hadley broke his silence at a sentencing hearing in March but offered little insight into why he killed his parents.

“There isn’t a single day that goes by that I don’t think about my parents or my entire family,” Hadley added. “I simply want everyone to know that I’m sorry for my acts.” 

Final Verdict 

Tyler was 17 then and could not be put to death under Florida law. 

He was condemned to life in prison without the possibility of parole on March 20, 2014.

Tyler’s sentence was amended to life in prison with the chance of parole in 2018 after filing an appeal with the District Court of Appeal. 

Tyler Hadley will not be eligible for a review until he has served for at least 25 years.

Tyler Hadley is facing two counts of second-degree murder charges. Mark V. Harllee, his public defender, has entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

For the murders of his parents, Tyler Hadley was sentenced to two life terms without the possibility of release.
